Many of you will recognize the story of the formally leprous man, who returned to Jesus in spite of his fellow lepers marching on without any apparent thought of returning to the “the Master.” I have always wondered why they did not sense the need to pursue their healer.
After some contemplation, I have realized that this is actually a picture of us at times. Beyond that, it provides a picture of the culture around us. How can we avoid this lack of gratitude? What provokes it? Is there any hope for this fallen world? All that and more will be addressed this weekend. May the Lord surprise us with some new and fresh perspectives on this well-known encounter.
