The etymology of the word culture actually has its origins in a Latin word denoting the act of cultivation. Sounds a little bit like Jesus as He described a parable where the “….sower went out to sow.” Out of that sowing, culture was created. We can define culture as simply the customs, beliefs, ways of life of a society, place or time. How could a “movement of the Gospel” not impact culture? If we see ourselves as merely consumers of religious goods, we will be somewhat muted in the effect we have on our culture. If, however, we see ourselves as people who are sent, the culture will be impacted in many diverse ways - people will be fed literally and spiritually, art glorifying the Creator will be birthed, morals and customs will be impacted, habits and rituals will shift. Life in our Valley will change. The conversations will change. The kingdom, when passionately advocated in word and deed, will change this Valley. We seek to be part of that group of change agents.
